Joining a few of my favorite bloggers for a blog tour is always a huge treat. We’re each sharing three table ideas for the season and we’re all trotting away with some amazing inspiration! Now, you know I like to keep things simple – so I’ll be sharing three ways to create a simple harvest tablescape this season that utilize several of the same items/elements!
Whenever I am tasked with creating different looks for single area – it’s tempting to head out and pick up a few new things to add to my collection. I challenged myself to shop my home and reuse several of my table-staples to showcase how easily you can achieve very distinct looks with what you have on hand!
Creating a Simple Harvest Tablescape: Organic Elements
Texture and warmth are two of my favorite things. I wanted to use both to set the scene for a warm and earthy tabletop using organic elements with oodles of texture.
For this look, I started by layering with a beautifully thick and rich table runner that pulls in the contrasts of cream and rust. Perfection doesn’t exist here and my table reflects that here – gathering the table runner rather than keeping it straight/flat across the table creates more depth. Next layer is the pampas garland that throws out all the texture and pulls together the warm neutrals. I like to include a centerpiece and I used my favorite antique ironstone pitcher filled with a couple of my favorite leafy stems to add height. With each table, I kept my black iron candlesticks – placing three on each end of the table – adding length and depth.
Creating a Simple Harvest Tablescape: Add a Harvest Basket
For look number two, I wanted to bring in one of my favorite vintage finds – a giant (I mean, this sucker is HUGE) harvest basket!
Harvest baskets are amazing in so many ways. It’s pretty easy to use them to create an obvious centerpiece and there are a variety of ways to fill them (the possibilities are nearly endless). Again, I layered my basket with a big, leafy magnolia garland mixed with a few of my top faux gourds and a gorgeous aspen leaf stem. Again, splitting my favorite candlesticks three on either side of the basket.
Blending Harvest & Holiday Greens
If you’re like me, by the time Thanksgiving arrives, I’ve already decked the halls with our trees, garlands, creepy Santas, and the like. With this in mind, I decided to blend fall florals with fresh cedar greens to give a best-of-both-worlds feel.
You’ll notice I used the fall magnolia leaf garland from the harvest basket. I took four to five cedar sprigs and placed them within the garland. The black iron candlesticks are the centerpiece for this look – simple but stunning all the same. The table setting here comes from an estate sale – I love using old dishes and thrifted china sets.
Gourds, sprigs, garlands, and greens – there are so many ways to piece together a beautiful table for the holidays. Keep things easy by using pieces that you have, layering, and combining key pieces to create a simple harvest tablescape this season (but if you do decide to use a harvest basket and also have cats – fully expect a cat to become part of your table display…that’s just what they do…)!
