Pumpkins here, pumpkins there, pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere! You can’t escape the allure of pumpkin these days and really, would you want to if you could escape it (just shake your head and pretend you’re absolutely head over heels, gaga in love with pumpkin for the next five minutes, okay)?? Honestly, with a little cinnamon and nutmeg atop a dollop of whipped cream, how could you possibly resist a slice of pumpkin pie goodness? Now, take all of that and turn it into a cocktail and BAM, mind blown! I was skeptical about trying this one out – but it’s absolutely fall-tastic! Get ready for cocktail time and pour yourself a cup of hot pumpkin pie! It’s the drink you never knew you needed!

I’ll be the first to admit that a hot toddy isn’t ever my go-to for an evening nightcap. Occasionally, I enjoy glass of wine or a chilled beer. However, there’s just something about the idea of hot alcohol that leaves me…well…skeptical, if not a little gaggy. When I came across this recipe, I was intrigued. It looked and sounded like a slice of pumpkin pie in a mug. Not only that, but it was a quick dump-and-go mix which is right up my alley!
Hot Pumpkin Pie Cocktail: The Ingredients
- 4 cups milk (I prefer whole)
- 2 cups cinnamon Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 1/2 cup vanilla or pumpkin pie vodka
- 1 can pumpkin puree
- 1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Cool whip topping
It’s Cocktail Time – Pour Yourself A Cup of Hot Pumpkin Pie – Let’s Whip it Up!
- Pour the milk, Bailey’s Irish Cream, and the vodka into a large pot. Bring it to a boil.
- Once boiling, turn the heat down to low and mix in the pumpkin, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice.
- After you’ve whipped up all the yummy ingredients, it’s ready to serve! Serve up immediately and top with a dollop of whipped cream (frozen is the best option for this one) and add a dash of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice as the cherry on top!
Derek and I enjoyed these mugs on a chilly afternoon this past weekend. We found it to be creamy and smooth – warm and comforting. I would serve this as a dessert beverage during Thanksgiving – or while sitting around a bonfire on a crisp fall evening.
This is a drink to sip slowly. Like, some things in life are meant to be savored and this is one of them. I enjoyed a few moments of serenity submerged in the notes of sweet spiciness and all I could think about was how delicious a plateful of hot baked apple donuts would be paired with this drink. A loaf of cinnamon swirl bread would be a fantastic pairing, as well. Heck, anything baked would be delish, friends (is there ever a time when baked goods aren’t amazing?).
I know pumpkin is such a tricky flavor – people love or loathe it. This drink was just enough pumpkin without being too much or over the top – the vanilla cream really helped tone it down and blend all the spices together so well! Trust me when I say that this is a recipe worth giving a try! ‘Tis the season to sit back, relax, and pour yourself a cup of hot pumpkin pie. Sometimes, the best thing to do is to set aside all the “to-do” lists and pressures that so often come with this time of the year and enjoy the simple satisfaction that comes from a warm and comforting mug of cinnamon-sweet tastiness. I’m adding this one to my favorites list – how about you? Until next time, peace, love, & light.
