If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that I adore Hocus Pocus. Like, I watch it year round and feel as if it’s always a good time for a little Hocus Pocus. I mean, Bette Midler is always on point! Of course, October is prime time for all things witchy, and I fell head over heels in ga-ga spooky love with this Unofficial Hocus Pocus cookbook while perusing the bookstore last week. I’ll be pulling and sharing a few recipes this month and the first I absolutely had to try was this clever little white witch chip cookie recipe – trust me, it will put a spell on you!

The inspiration for this recipe comes from the scene in Hocus Pocus when Allison uses a circle of salt to protect herself from the Sanderson sisters evil ways. She learns about this little trick when she and Max open the spell book when trying to find a way to break the spell cast on Thackeray Binx. But, spoiler alert, opening the book sends a signal to the sisters and they’re able to find where Max, Allison, and Danny are hiding. It’s at this point in the movie when Winifred calls Allison a “clever little white witch.” I was lucky enough to have my own clever little white witch helpers in the kitchen for this yummy spell!

Clever Little White Witch Chip Cookie Recipe: Let’s Brew A Batch!
To stir up this magical concoction, you’ll want to begin by mixing together the sugars, butter, vanilla, and eggs until combined and smooth.
After mixing together the wet ingredients, add the flour, soda, powder, salt, and cinnamon (leave out the dead man’s toes, though…we’ll put that one together later). Add in a full bag of white chocolate chips and mix until combined.
Obviously, this is the point when you’ll want to alert your witchy helpers that it’s time to test the concoction (or, don’t…keep it all to yourself, believe me, I get it). Once you’ve determined that the batter is bewitched, use a tablespoon to plop the dough onto a greased cookie sheet. Oh, yeah, you’ll want the oven to be at a toasty 350 degrees.
Let the cookies bake for 10-12 minutes or until a nice, golden brown. These little sweets should be perfectly crispy on the edges and delightfully chewy in the middle.
Place cookies onto a sheet of aluminum foil to help set the bottoms – this will help keep those edges nice and crispy!
My little witchy crew was able to whip these up in a handful of minutes! Derek (who’s a cookie snob) ate five while they were still warm, so you know this is a keeper! The pinch of cinnamon gives these cookies that little something extra that makes these the perfect treat for fall. Thanks for stopping by, my friends! As always, peace, love, & light (after coffee) – I’ll see you soon!
