2020 has been one heck of a year. Between being pregnant with little monster number five and dealing with the ongoing pandemic, we are reeling. Time has both flown and stood still, it seems. As I sit here, I’m wondering where October went as we trudge right on in to November. Something you should know about me — once Halloween ends (we’re talking once the kids go to bed), it’s Christmas time. I start decking the halls pretty darn early because it makes me HAPPY and because it takes so darn long to deck them halls! But, I realize that’s not how everyone works and there is still an entire beautiful month to enjoy all things Autumn. So I want to share a little farmhouse fall inspiration with you as we welcome November!
I tend to lean on the moody side — with my style, I mean (and personality, let’s be honest). I love bringing in dark elements to mix in with my lighter side. This set up was one of my favorites. The portrait and creepy cloth instantly created a spooky feel for October. Take it away and it’s a great fall mantel. I love layering while adding texture — the magnolia leaves and tobacco basket up the cozy factor. This sign was also a favorite find this season from Our Found Home — they create beautiful handmade signs for all seasons.
Jumping right into another mantel with more goodness from Our Found Home! This harvest moon sign is a great fall accent piece — though it would work year-round. It sets the mood for this scene. I added this DIY floating ghost for a little spook factor! A pile of pumpkins offset by an old crock with dried florals makes for a fantastic fall vignette!
This was such a fun little nook! You can see my sources for several of my favorite dried fall florals here! They add so much realism and great texture to this crock and harvest basket. Of course, I had to deck Ms. Bernice with a witchy hat around Halloween!
I love my portraits year-round but they become especially lovely during the holidays. I added creepy cloth and a few feathered friends for an October display. But these dried oak leaves would be enough to warm this space for the season. Mixing whites, woods, and a little bit of antiqued gold is a classic Autumn win!
Last week, I painted this fig leaf garland to add a little more variation to my seasonal garland. You can absolutely paint silk garland to your heart’s content to get the look you really want! Though, be warned, it *is* a bit of a mess. I just love fig leaves — they are huge and provide a dramatic element to any space.
Something to keep in mind is that seasonal decor does not have to be complicated. It can be as simple as draping a garland over a treasured piece (one of my favorite marketplace finds this year!) and the space is instantly transformed. I just love these rich Magnolia leaves!
Oh my gourd, I LOVE FALL! Don’t you? Go out and make your spaces cozy in whatever way works for you and wherever the season takes you, be inspired, friends!
